• Inaccurate Measurements: Inaccurate measurements can result in flawed plans and inefficient use of space. To ensure precision, it’s crucial to work with up-to-date field measurements or LiDAR-scanned plans of the existing space.  (While The Space Plan Company does not provide a field measurement service, we can recommend reputable companies that do.)
• Misalignment with Goals: Failure to align with the user’s objectives and needs can lead to inefficient space utilization, disrupted flow, and plans that may hinder corporate culture or workplace initiatives.
• Overlooking Details: Layout details, such as allowing for natural lighting and planning for acoustics, can significantly impact the functionality and comfort of the space.  Experienced planners will be able to plan wholistically, taking into account easily overlooked details.
• Building Code Violations: Inexperienced planners may inadvertently violate various building codes and regulations when creating a space plan. Exiting requirements, occupant loads, and accessibility standards are just a few of the critical codes that must be considered. Although the initial space plan is not a construction document, considering the governing building codes during the space planning phase is essential. This allows a licensed professional in your jurisdiction to further develop the plan without requiring significant revisions to the layout.
